People are not displaced first; they are slowly deskilled, dependency-trained, and normalized into irrelevance. Work shifts from contribution to supervision of systems that do not answer back. Citizenship drifts from rights to permissions granted by infrastructure owners.

Recent moves do not change AI’s direction; they confirm it. Compute is verticalizing into fewer firms, energy is being treated as a strategic asset, and governance remains performative rather than constraining. The gap between capability and accountability is no longer theoretical; it is operational.

The invoice is not financial. It is paid in agency, autonomy, and the quiet acceptance of systems that no longer answer to human scale. Nothing here is speculative. The future of AI emerged from incentives we rewarded, shortcuts we normalized, and boundaries we declined to enforce. What feels sudden now is simply the bill arriving on time.
