Memory Convergence

Google has started down the hill first with ‘Personal Intelligence.’ It’s now only a matter of time before the rest of the pack follows. I’ve worried about this for a while, and I’m not alone.

Experts are already warning about privacy and access risks:
Fellow New England native and Mainer Shoshana Zuboff has already warned us that “AI is simply surveillance capitalism continuing to evolve and
expand…” https://tinyurl.com/bdapxutc.
Further, Signal’s President Meredith Whittaker has warned us at SXSW-2025 in Austin that AI agents requiring broad access to user data pose “…has a profound issue with both privacy and security.”, likening the use of ai agents to “putting our brain in a jar.”

While the experts warning hopefully get us thinking, they’re missing the biggest risk of all: memory convergence, not just access. That risk isn’t hypothetical, it’s architectural.

Once identity, intent, history, and prediction live in one model context, consent becomes meaningless and future misuse is structural, not accidental. That should keep anyone modeling the system up at night.

AI assisted with drafting and imagery; all analysis and decisions remain human.
