Coyotes are highly adaptable predators found throughout New England in forests, farmland, and increasingly in suburban areas. Slightly larger than their western relatives, eastern coyotes typically weigh 25-35 pounds and are recognized by their slender muzzle, upright ears, yellow eyes, and bushy tail often tipped with black. They are most active at dawn and dusk and communicate through a range of vocalizations including howls, yips, and barks that help maintain territory and contact between family members.
